I have been preparing for the trip to Zambia for several days now. I am all packed, including three solar ovens. I have done research on designs and materials and finally found two I liked and believe are a good cooking option for the families who work on the Terranova Coffee farm.

Here are some pictures of one of the ovens I put together for them. It is made with a wood base painted black, and then four vinyl tiles covered with heavy duty aluminm foil. They are then bolted to the wood at the corners and have clips to hold them in a bowl shape so they can direct the sun to the item they need to heat which will sit in the middle. (After the trip more resources were added)

The finished "winged" solar oven.

Now it time to head to the airport. First stop: Amsterdam, Netherlands. Then Johannesburg, South Africa and then Lusaka, Zambia. Then finally arriving at the Terranova School and coffee farm. I will try to post on here some while I am gone so check back in a day or two. Oh, I also am taking over 75 friendship bracelets I have made and hope to use the thread I am taking with me to show them how to make their own too.
